Ferragosto in Malta 2026: Everything You Need to Know
Ask any Italian where they're spending mid-August and there's a good chance the answer is Malta. Ferragosto — Italy's biggest summer holiday — turns the island into the Mediterranean's busiest party destination for one unforgettable week. And in 2026 the date does everyone a favour: Ferragosto falls on Saturday 15 August. Here's everything you need to know.
What exactly is Ferragosto?
Ferragosto (15 August) is Italy's mid-summer national holiday — the week when offices close and the entire country heads to the sea. Malta, just 90 minutes from Italy, has become one of its favourite escapes, and the island responds with its most packed events calendar of the year.
When is the Ferragosto party week in Malta?
The core week runs roughly 10–16 August 2026, peaking on Saturday the 15th — which in 2026 means the biggest night of the Italian summer lands on the biggest club night of the Maltese week. Expect the fullest venues of the entire season.
What's on during Ferragosto week?
- 🛥️ Boat parties at their peak — the Mega Boat Party and the all-white White Boat Party sail all week, and Ferragosto sailings are always the first to sell out. Prefer scenery? The SuperBoat to Comino & Blue Lagoon is the postcard option.
- 💦 Pool party season at maximum — Thursday 13th belongs to the Café del Mar Pool Party; add Bora Bora or a rooftop swim at Infinity for the full mid-August experience. Browse the whole pool party collection.
- 🎆 Ferragosto night (Saturday 15) — rooftop glamour at Starlight, foam cannons at the Flirt Foam Party, or the Saturday flagships at Gianpula Village and Toy Room.
- 🇮🇹 Italian nights all week — check our dedicated Italian Nights collection for the parties made for the Ferragosto crowd.
Do I need to book in advance?
For this week: absolutely. Ferragosto is the one stretch of summer when door tickets barely exist — the 14th and 15th sell out online days (sometimes weeks) ahead. Book your key nights before you fly, and pre-book taxis for the peak nights too.
Is Ferragosto in Malta only for Italians?
Not at all. The crowd stays fully international — Ferragosto simply means everything runs at maximum: more events, bigger productions and the best atmosphere of the summer. If you can only pick one week in August, this is it.
